A mechanical gripper lifts by clamping onto, tightening around, or hooking onto the object you want to lift. Unlike a Vacuum gripper it does not use vacuum cups. The advantage of this is that you can lift both porous and dense materials without the gripper losing its grip. It is a very safe option.
