Profitable in terms of time, money and ergonomics

Elevator manufacturer Aritco is located in a 16,000-square-meter factory in Veddesta, just outside Stockholm. Nearly 4,000 elevators are manufactured here each year and sold over. There are many lifting tasks. With the help of lifting aids, the staff’s work has become easier, and they can work more independently.
Increasing productivity with lifting tools
At Aritco, many different elevator components used to be lifted by hand. These included door leaves, platforms, empty pallets and shaft glass.
Almir Cehic works as a production technician and safety representative at Aritco. He says that the company now has five lifting tools, instead of lifting manually. "The difference from the situation before is huge.
"Before, people would shout: 'I'm lifting now!' Then everyone helped to lift," says Almir. "Triple glass weighs around 100 kilos. Back then, three or four people had to help lift it onto a table and then onto a pallet. Today, one person can easily do the same job by himself."
He describes that thanks to lifting tools, the workforce does not have to interrupt their work to help colleagues lift. This has increased productivity, thereby recouping the cost of the lifting tool within a few months.
"A lifting tool pays off every day of the week, in terms of time, money and ergonomics," says Almir. "I always say that the twinkle I see in the eyes of the person lifting triple glass cannot be compared to any money in the world. Lifting once is no problem, but imagine lifting daily, weekly and monthly."
Lifting tools for lifting high
Aritco's lifting tools are customized to their operations. This means that they are built for the weight and handling of the load. For example, the company has a Manhattan Pallet Gripper, which can lift extra high.
"Our pallets were stacked in a pile 1.5-2 meters high. The pallet can weigh 35 kilos, and in the past you had to take it by hand and throw it down. Now Manhattan allows us to lift the pallet and turn it over, and take both small and large pallets. It was a success!"
