The environmental company Ragn-Sell's treatment plant at Högbytorp outside Stockholm deals with large quantities of waste every year. The aim is to treat and recycle as much as possible. At the same time, they want to protect the well-being of their staff and limit the heavy lifting required to handle the waste.
Handling solution
Josefin works as a chemist at Ragn-Sells Högbytorp, where she works, among other things, with taking care of waste that comes in. Often, large amounts of waste come in in the form of various packaging, such as cans. The cans can vary in size and weight, but some hold as much as 20-30 liters. These weigh almost 40 kilograms.
"Before we got the lifting tool, we in the staff usually lifted manually. If that didn't work, we had to use a forklift and straps to secure the cans and then drive it away. We also had a traverse, but it was so cumbersome that we usually avoided using it. Sometimes we needed several people to help lift the really heavy cans, one had to strap the can and one had to drive the truck," says Josefin.
"For a while I got an injury, I got pain in my shoulder and back. It turned out to be because of the heavy dunk lifting. In connection with that, we saw Lifts All and said 'this would be a perfect solution for this handling'."
One person can do what used to take two
Now Josefin lifts with the Basic lifting tool from Lifts All instead. The tool is equipped with a single hook and is pneumatically driven, which means that the load is very easy to carry and move.
"Today I can do all the lifting myself. The tool is smooth, easy to work with and flexible in its movements, I can stand and work myself and it goes quickly. The lifting aid is very easy to use. I use it often, for example yesterday I lifted a hundred cans. Often I collect several cans and make a point of lifting them all. It's great!
I'm also noticing a difference in my body, the repetitive strain injury is gone and I have no problems with pain."
